LEGAL MAL-PRACTIcE

When you hire an attorney you expect honesty, loyalty, and professionalism. Most of the time you get it. However, as with any human endeavor, mistakes happen. When they do, your attorney may owe you for damages. Keeping in mind that attorneys do not and cannot guarantee a positive outcome, if you believe an attorney mishandled your case I will listen and give you my frank opinion and if appropriate, prosecute your claim.

TRANSACTIONS

Our day is full of transactions. Buying a cup of coffee, boarding a train, or using a taxi all involve contracts. We agree to buy goods or use the service and the seller agrees to sell or provide. These contracts are completed in a short amount of time and have little to no documentation. Detailed documentation is not necessary because the contract is carried out almost immediately and the cost is small.

Serious transactions are those that could create long relationships, can be complicated to carry out, or involve significant amounts of money. They require a different approach from the beginning. This is where I come in.

Many lawsuits are born out of poorly done or non-existent documentation. Well-written, clean contracts and supporting exhibits are our friends. Their clarity prevents many disputes, and if a dispute lands up in court the issues to be decided are likely to be limited and straightforward. The best time to get an attorney involved in before any promises are made, whether orally or on the back of a napkin.
